Win Against Facebook!

January 07, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Facebook is making it so small businesses have to pay for "boosts" to get their fan base to see a post.

The other day I posted this photo and tried boosting it, but was denied as the wording took up over 20% of the picture.

After that was denied I posted this next posting:

Are you expecting or know someone that is?

I am now taking sessions for 2016!

I only accept up to 4 newborn sessions a month, so please book in advance.

There reason being?  It was discriminatory.  Because I used the words "Are you expecting" Facebook denied it.

Here is the reasoning:

Ads should not single out individuals or degrade people. We don’t accept language like “Are you fat?”, "Are you in debt?" and the like. Instead, text must present realistic and accurate information in a neutral or positive way and should not have any direct attribution to people.

I was unaware that asking people if they were expecting could be degrading.  It isn't sexist as males can be expecting.  It isn't racist.  Expecting can mean adopting as well.  If you go so far, many people expect the arrival of a fur baby as well.

So in the end, I decided to combine my 2 boosting failures to see how well Facebook reads the actual words on posts and I posted this:

...and they approved it.

In the end.  I won the battle of the boosts.

Also, I am now booking newborn sessions for 2016!
